Adult Road Test Requirements

Online Adult Driver Education (6-Hour Course)

• 6-Hour State-Approved Online Adult Driver Education Course
• Covers the full Texas Driver’s Handbook, rules of the road, and safety fundamentals
• Certificate of Completion included upon finishing the course
• Required by Texas law for adults ages 18–24 (recommended for ages 25+)

Adult Driver Education (Permit Test Prep)

• Required for adults ages 18–24 in Texas
• State-approved Adult Driver Education course accepted by DPS
• Designed as the fastest and simplest way to pass the DPS written test
• Certificate provided for learner permit or driver license application
• Flexible scheduling with support from certified instructors if needed

Adult DPS Road Test (Ages 25+)

• Eligible for adults 25 years or older
• Valid restricted driver’s license required
• ITD (Impact Texas Drivers) certificate required — must be dated within 90 days
• Road test conducted on a DPS-approved route with certified examiners
• Free rental car included for the road test
• Passing score of 70% or higher required to successfully complete the test
